About Children's Ministries at First Baptist Church of Clayton

We invite you to join us in ministry for the 2022-23 church year by completing this registration. Below is an overall planned schedule, but please know we may have to adjust as we go. I will use the emails on this registration to keep you up to date on changes and additions. If you plan to participate, please register your child for updates and information this new year. Stay connected with us through the Children’s Ministry as we continue to love, serve, learn, and grow in creative, new ways! Sunday Mornings

Sunday School: 10:45 on Sunday Mornings at the Church.  Sunday School is a ministry where we commit to pour into the spiritual formation of our children from birth through 5th grade through studying the Bible and encouraging a time of engaging with questions and learning at age-appropriate levels. Please note, classes are based on the child’s age as of 8/31/22 or current grade level:

  • Infants Sunday School (birth-1 year)
  • Toddlers Sunday School (1 and 2-year-olds)
  • 3 & 4-Year-Olds Sunday School
  • Kindergarten-2nd Grade Sunday School
  • 3rd-5th Grade Sunday School

Worship Services at 9:30 a.m. in person. The service is streamed Live on FB Live or the Church Website (fbcclaytonnc.org). Nursery is available for infants – 2-year-olds during both services.

Wednesday Evenings

Wednesday programming is a time to put “loving others” into action. Through Mission Friends, GA’s, and RA’s our children learn what it means to be a missionary of the gospel message through service poured out from love for all God’s people. Wednesday programming will begin on Wednesday, September 7, starting with a fellowship meal in the Fellowship Hall at 5:30. Children 3 and under are free. Adults will need to pay $8 and children $4. Programming is from 6:15-7:30. Children may not be left without supervision until programming begins at 6:15.
6:15 Programming includes the following:

  • Mission Friends and Shine Choir – Ages Pre-K through Kindergarten
  • GA’s – Girls in 1st-5th Grade
  • RA’s – Boys in 1st-5th Grade
  • Musical Practice is from 7:00-7:30 for Kindergarten – 5th Grade
  • Shine Choir and Mission Friends ends at 7:15

Mission Friends introduces our children to the idea of being a missionary.  Children learn about how they can tell others about Jesus while learning about missionaries both far and near.  Mission Friends classes are 3-year-old Mission Friends, 4-year-old Mission Friends and Kindergarten Mission Friends.

Girls in Action (GAs) is for girls in 1st-5th Grade.  Building on the ideas of missions taught in Mission Friends, our GAs dive deeper into what it means to be a missionary, following Jesus’ calling to teach all nations through mission projects, learning about and praying for missionaries, and memorizing and using scripture.  GAs hear from guest speakers ranging from church leaders in our Women’s Missionary Union groups to missionaries who have served around the world.  Through our GA program, girls are building meaningful relationships with other young ladies and their leaders as they grow and learn together in their faith journeys.

Royal Ambassadors (RAs) is for boys in 1st-5th Grade.  Building on the ideas of missions taught in Mission Friends, our RAs dive deeper into what it means to be a missionary, following Jesus’ calling to teach all nations through mission projects, learning about and praying for missionaries, and memorizing and using scripture.  The boys also prepare and race derby cars as part of their winter lock-in activities.  Through our RA program, boys are building meaningful relationships with other young men and their leaders as they grow and learn together in their faith journeys.

Children are some of our best joyful noisemakers!  Children’s Choirs begin on Wednesday evenings at 6:15 p.m. and include the Preschool Choir, Kindergarten & 1st Grade Choir and 2nd-5th Grade Choir.  The choirs reinforce Biblical teachings, verse memorization and the love of Jesus through song.  Each choir shares during an 11:00 worship service in the fall and spring.  Three special musical performances during the year include the Children’s Christmas Music Program in December, the Children’s Musical in the spring presented by the Kindergarten-5th Graders and Children’s Sunday when all children participate in the 11:00 worship service.

Vacation Bible School is a summer tradition marked by fellowship, faith and fun.  This is one of the biggest outreach opportunities of the Children’s Ministry and has brought many new families into our church doors.  See below for details for this summer’s VBS program.
